On Friday 5th May, the Middle School students held a special celebration for a very important Coronation.
To celebrate the reign of our new King Charles III, the children spent some of their lessons this week preparing activities and learning all about the importance of the Coronation as part of embedding British Values within their learning opportunities, and to prepare for an amazing afternoon of celebration. Many of the children spent the morning helping Lynsey to prepare a veritable feast fit for a King that they all enjoyed sharing together as part of their afternoon activities.
The afternoon activities started with the whole Middle School assembling to sing God Save the King to Pete's tuneful trombone, followed by an incredible quiz prepared by the Year 5 students, and wonderful crossword and wordsearch activities planned by the Year 6 students. The Year 7's entertained us all with a wonderful drama sketch, followed by everyone taking turns to hit the Sceptre inspired piñata that they had created with the help of Sally, to release sweet treats resembling the jewels and gems of the King's Crown.
The afternoon culminated in all of the children joining together to fly the commemorative kites that they had decorated during the week, and much fun was had by staff and students alike.
This week has enabled the Middle School students so many invaluable opportunities - to embed British Values and SMSC within their learning, to take pride in preparing for a very special event in their lives, and most importantly, coming together to work and celebrate as part of a team.
God Save The King!
